Neuromodulators

Before Your Appointment

  • Do not take Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Motrin, turmeric, fish oil, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba or garlic supplements for 1 week prior to your appointment.
  • Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours.
  • You may start taking Arnica tablets for a few days before your appointment to reduce discomfort, bruising and swelling.
  • Bruising is possible and therefore, we recommend you schedule any social plans for 7-10 days following your injection.
  • While the initial effects of the injection are visible in as soon as 3-5 days, you should expect the best results in about 2 weeks.

After Your Appointment

  • Do not massage your face or put your face in a facial cradle (e.g., for a massage) for 24 hours following your injection.
  • Avoid doing facial laser or electrical treatments for 2 weeks.
  • You may resume your skin care program on the same day.
  • Avoid hot tubs, saunas, hot yoga and high intensity exercise for 24 hours.
  • Wait four hours to apply cosmetics, moisturizer or any lotions in the area.

Dermal Fillers

Before Your Appointment

  • Arrive with a clean face. Please do not wear makeup.
  • Do not take Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Motrin or similar products, fish oil, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba or garlic supplements for 1 week prior to filler.
  • Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours.
  • You may start taking Arnica tablets for a few days before your appointment to reduce discomfort, bruising and swelling.
  • Hydrate well and eat a large meal before filler and bring a snack to eat right before the injection.
  • Clear your schedule after filler so you can take the time to ice your face and relax.
  • It’s best to delay treatment until any active viral or bacterial infections have been resolved (e.g., current UTI, sinus infection, flu/cold, or oral herpes).
  • Avoid doing fillers 2 weeks before & after vaccinations or dental work.
  • Bruising is possible and therefore, we recommend you schedule any social plans for 7-10 days following your injection.

After Your Appointment

  • The results will be immediate, but their best effects are noted after swelling has resolved.
  • Swelling, redness, firmness, itching and tenderness may be present for up to 2 weeks.
  • Use cool packs as needed.
    Sleep with your head elevated to reduce the amount of swelling for the first 2 days.
  • Do not massage or put pressure on the treated area, unless instructed by me.
  • Wait 4 hours to apply cosmetics, moisturizer or any lotions in the area.
  • Avoid direct sunlight or extreme cold weather until initial swelling and/or redness have subsided. Apply SPF (I have a variety of SPF products in my office including lotion, compact & stick).
  • Do not do heavy aerobic exercise or do anything to raise your core body temperature or blood pressure for 24 hours.
  • Motrin, Advil, or Tylenol may be used as directed for any discomfort after injection.
  • Cetirizine HCl (Zyrtec) 10 mg may be taken as directed to reduce swelling.
  • Lumps, bumps or irregular, asymmetrical areas may be noted, especially once swelling has subsided. They take about 2 weeks to soften.
  • Bruising is expected and usually most obvious on days 2-7. Arnica as well as Alastin Post-Injection Serum (insert Alastin shopping link: https://www.alastin.com/collections/welcome?designate-location=12728) will speed up the healing.
  • Postpone dental procedures for at least 2 weeks after treatment.
  • Contact me ASAP for severe discoloration, swelling, itching, redness, increasing discomfort or drainage from treated areas.
  • It can take up to 2 weeks for swelling and bruising to subside. If additional filler is desired in an area of previous treatment, we require you to wait until the 2 weeks have passed.
  • Periodic treatments will help maintain the desired level of correction.

Fat Dissolving/Lipolytic Injections

Before Your Appointment

  • Arrive with a clean face. Please do not wear makeup.
  • Discontinue the use of Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, ginkgo biloba, garlic, flax oil, cod liver oil, vitamins A and E 1 week before treatment to minimize bruising.
  • Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours prior to your treatment.
  • Please reschedule your appointment for any active infections (e.g., cold/flu, cold sores, or rash in the area being treated).
  • Discontinue Retin-A 2-3 days before your treatment.
  • Plan in advance of any upcoming social events and vacation. Schedule your treatment at least 2 weeks prior to allow adequate time for healing.
  • Wait at least 2 weeks before and after cosmetic treatments with laser, ultrasound, peels, facials or microdermabrasion.

After Your Appointment

  • Do not touch, press, rub, massage or manipulate the treatment area.
  • Ice the treated area for the next 24 hours (20 minutes on/20 minutes off). Continue this pattern for 24 hours. Do not use heat on the area.
  • Some clients find it helpful to use a chin strap to keep the swelling down.
  • Apply over-the-counter Arnica gel to the treatment area to decrease bruising, swelling and discomfort.
    You may take Tylenol as needed to decrease post-treatment discomfort.
  • Sleep on your back with your head elevated for the next 3-5 days.
  • Drink plenty of fluids after treatment.
  • Avoid vigorous exercise, sun and heat exposure for 3-5 days after treatment.
  • Avoid Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Motrin, ginkgo biloba, garlic, flax oil, cod liver oil, vitamins A and E, or any other essential fatty acids for at least 3 days to 1 week after treatment, as they may increase bleeding and bruising.
  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplements, high sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods and cigarettes 24-48 hours after your treatment as they may contribute to increased swelling and irritation.
  • Avoid cosmetic treatments such as injectables, laser, ultrasound, peels, facials or microdermabrasion to the Kybella treatment area for at least 4 weeks.
  • It is normal for the injected area to feel lumpy & even numb for some clients. Those symptoms should resolve within 3 weeks.
  • Please report to us immediately if you develop an asymmetric smile or facial muscle weakness, skin ulceration in the treatment area, increasing redness, swelling and pain, difficulty swallowing, or if any existing symptoms worsen.

Sculptra

Before Your Appointment

  • Arrive with a clean face. Please do not wear makeup.
  • Avoid the use of aspirin, NSAIDS, ginkgo biloba, garlic supplements, green tea, flax oil, cod liver oil, vitamins A and E, and essential fatty acids for up to 1 week pre and post injection as they will increase your risk of bruising. I will use a small blunt cannula instead of a needle to minimize this risk.
  • Do not drink alcoholic beverages 24 hours before (or after) your treatment to avoid extra bruising.
  • You may take Arnica tablets 2-3 days prior to your injection to reduce the risk of bruising.
  • Do not apply products that are potentially irritating for 2 -3 days before and after treatment (e.g., tretinoin/retin-a, glycolic acid, benzoyl peroxide, hydroquinone).
  • Inform your provider if you have a history of cold sores to assess the need for antiviral therapy prior to treatment.

After Your Appointment

  • Massage the treated areas for 5 minutes (for the whole face), 5 times a day for 5 days after your treatment.
  • Within the first 24 hours after your treatment, apply an ice pack wrapped in a cloth for 15 minutes 3 times a day to the treatment area to help reduce swelling (avoid putting ice directly on your skin).
  • You may apply make-up a few hours after your Sculptra aesthetic treatment if no complications are present (e.g., open wounds or bleeding).
  • You may take Acetaminophen (Tylenol) if you experience any mild tenderness/discomfort.
  • After treatment there will be moderate swelling and redness with possibility of bruising. These symptoms will resolve in about 1 week. You may take Arnica tablets to help decrease the amount of bruising.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours to reduce bruising. You may resume other normal activities/routines immediately.
  • Avoid laser, IPL, or skin tightening treatments of the area for at least 2-3 weeks.
  • A few days after treatment, you may look as you did before the treatment. This is normal and temporary. Sculptra helps to GRADUALLY replace lost collagen and visible results appear within the first few treatment sessions.
  • Avoid sun and UV sunlamp exposure until swelling and redness have disappeared. Apply SPF (I have a variety of SPF in my office including lotion, compact and stick).

PRX-T33 Biorevitalization

Before Your Appointment

  • Please arrive with a clean face and avoid makeup.
  • Discontinue the use of retinol 7-14 days prior to treatment.
  • Avoid exfoliating products such as glycolic, lactic or salicylic acid-containing products on your skin for 1 week prior to treatment. Avoid shaving or waxing the treated area for a few days prior to treatment.
  • PRX-T33 Biorevitalization should not be performed alongside other exfoliating treatments including chemical peels or microdermabrasion.
  • Avoid tanning and sunbeds for 2 weeks prior to treatment to minimize irritated or sunburned skin.
  • If you are prone to cold sores, you may require antiviral medication prior to your treatment to prevent an outbreak.

After Your Appointment

Day 1
Apply an amount of WiQo Moisturizing Face Cream for Dry Skin at night or earlier to treat with dryness. The amount should be a fingerprint size and be massaged into the skin until absorbed.

Day 2 and Beyond
AM: You may apply WiQo Moisturizing Face Cream for Dry Skin then Apply SPF 40+
PM: You may apply WiQo Facial Smoothing Fluid, wait 30 minutes and apply WiQo Moisturizing Face Cream for Dry Skin

  • Avoid applying makeup to the treated areas for 24 hours.
  • Avoid cosmetic, beauty or dental treatments for at least a week.
  • Use a SPF of at least 40 after treatment
    Avoid extreme hot and cold temperatures as well as sweating.
  • Hydrate well!

Restore the Skin
After PRX-T33 the skin has to get nourishment and protection. WiQo Moisturizing Face Cream provides restoring the hydrolipidic film thanks to its high content of high quality shea butter, and supplying many ingredients such A and E vitamins, nutritive substances and valuable plant extracts that benefit the skin.

Maintain
Apply the product on the day after PRX-T33 application.WiQo Facial Smoothing Fluid contains low pH glycolic acid (8%) and a balanced formula for the skin, prolonging and enhancing the dermal stimulation at home. The 8% glycolic has the effect of skin renewal and at this percentage functions as a moisturizer.

Do not use other products during your treatment. Gentle cleanser, SPF and makeup is acceptable. You may resume your regular skin care regimen 7 days after your last session.

Intense flaking can occur after the first session of PRX-T33 application on clients with a very thick stratum corneum and may last 2-3 days. Apply the product several times a day. If you experience dryness, apply WiQo Moisturizing Face Cream for Dry Skin more frequently. Appearance of darker patches in the first 2 days following PRX-T33 application: these are thicker areas of skin drying up and will disappear though natural exfoliation in a few days. Please contact us if you experience any uncommon side effects.

 

Platelet Rich Fibrin

Before Your Appointment

7 Days Before Your Treatment:

  • Avoid chemical peels, waxing, electrolysis, laser treatments, or threading
  • Discontinue blood thinning agents such as vitamin E, vitamin A, Ginkgo, garlic, flax, cod liver oil, essential fatty acids, and multivitamins, a minimum of 14 days prior to treatment. You may continue iron and vitamin D.
  • If you’re taking any blood thinners, please discuss with your provider, as they may represent a contraindication to this treatment. These medications include Plavix and Coumadin and Heparin.
  • Avoid aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Voltaren and other anti-inflammatory medications if approved by your primary care provider. We want inflammation to occur – as this is one mechanism by which PRF works. You may use Tylenol (acetaminophen) as needed prior to the treatment.
  • Prescription medications should be taken as prescribed right up to, and including, the day of your treatment.
  • Avoid excessive sun or heat exposure.

3 Days Before Your Treatment:

  • Avoid topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinols, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, Alpha Hydroxy Acid, Salicylic Acid, or other “anti-aging”, “acne”, and “bleaching” products.
  • Avoid alcohol.
  • Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or the use of hair removal cream on the treated area.
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure and wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily of SPF 40 or higher.
  • Hydrate well starting today and up until your appointment time.

Day of Treatment:

  • Please arrive at the office with a “clean face”. Do not wear makeup. No lotions or other topical products should be applied on the day of the procedure.

After Your Appointment

Immediately Following Treatment:

  • You may expect mild discomfort, redness, swelling and/or irritation after treatment.
  • You may have a bruise at the blood draw site.
  • Pain should be minimal and you may take Tylenol as needed. Ice can be applied to reduce swelling if necessary.
  • Do not take any anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen, Motrin or Advil. These agents will interfere with the natural inflammatory process that is critical and responsible for PRF rejuvenation qualities.
  • Avoid exercise, sun and heat exposure for at least 24 hours following your treatment.
  • Make sure you only use clean linens and towels during the healing process.
  • During the healing phase, disinfect your cell phone or landline phone with alcohol wipes before use. Avoid your treated skin’s contact with the phone by choosing a hands-free option.

After Treatment Care:

  • Continue to avoid aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Voltaren and other anti-inflammatory medications for 3 days after your procedure (if possible try for 7 days).
  • Use a gentle cleanser and warm water to cleanse the face for the following 72 hours.
  • Use a gentle moisturizer as needed.
  • Avoid sun exposure, including tanning booths, and wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily of SPF 40 or higher.
  • Avoid warm environments (i.e., hot tubs, jacuzzis, steam rooms, hot yoga, saunas, etc.) for 3 days post treatment.
  • By day 2 or 3, your skin may feel a bit dry. This is normal and will resolve on its own.
  • You may return to your skincare products and makeup when your skin is not irritated, typically 4 – 5 days after treatment.
  • You’ll begin to see improvements in the overall texture and tone shortly after your treatment, but the optimum improvement takes up to 3 months.
  • New collagen formation takes 4-6 weeks to develop. Please be patient.
  • It is recommended to have a minimum of 3 treatments, 4 weeks apart for maximum benefit.

Contact us immediately if any of the following signs of infection occur:

  • Drainage – looks like pus
  • Increased warmth at or around the treated area

Microneedling

Before Your Appointment

  • I highly recommend medical grade skin care for at least 2 weeks prior to your appointment to decrease any skin inflammation that may be present (I can suggest a personalized skin care regimen for you).
  • Increase your fluid intake starting at least 2 days prior to your visit.
  • Do not expose your skin to the sun or tanning beds for 2 weeks prior.
  • Botox or fillers may be done 2 weeks prior to microneedling.
  • Avoid chemical peels for 3 weeks prior to microneedling.
  • Stop all AHA products, Retin A, Renova, or Retinol on areas to be treated 5 days prior to treatment.
  • Do not take Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Aleve, vitamin E, fish oil or Ginkgo Biloba for 10 days prior to treatment. You may take Tylenol if needed.
  • No Coumadin or Accutane in the last 6 months.
  • If you are prone to cold sores/herpes breakouts, you may start a prescription for antiviral medication (I can provide it if needed).
  • Taking a supplement of vitamin C (like Emergen-C, 1000 mg 2x/day) can accelerate healing & promote new collagen.
  • Please reschedule for shingles, active contact dermatitis, acne, herpes/cold sores or warts, current skin cancer treatment, immunosuppression, & pregnancy/lactation.

After Your Appointment

  • You’ll look like you have a mild sunburn and may have some swelling for 12-24 hours. There is very little down time.
  • Do not touch your skin for 5 hours as plasma and serum need time to work.
  • You may rinse your face with warm water (no cleanser) the next morning. Gently pat dry the skin with a clean towel.
  • Do not exfoliate, rub or scratch the skin at any time. This may compromise your results & cause scarring.
  • Skin may feel tight, dry, have rough texture or itch for up to 7-10 days.
  • You may apply hyaluronic acid, gentle moisturizer and mineral based SPF 24 hours after treatment (we can help you select the right products).
  • You can start wearing makeup (if desired) in 72 hours.
  • You may resume using topical vitamin C, Retin-A, and Hydroquinone after 1 week.
  • For the next 2 days, sleep on your back with your head elevated.
  • You may resume exercise 24 hours after treatment.
  • Avoid direct sunlight for 48 hours and use at least 50 SPF (you may purchase one at our office).
  • Avoid chemical peels for 3 weeks after microneedling.
  • Botox & fillers may be done 2 weeks after microneedling.
  • Use of nicotine-containing products diminishes the oxygen supply to the skin & decreases healing.
  • Timeline of improvements to expect:
  • Day 1-2 (normally 24 hours): Erythema & mild swelling subside.
  • Day 2-7: Increased exfoliation & dryness.
  • 1 week onwards: Improvement in texture & tone.
  • 3 weeks onward: Improvement in pigmentation.
  • 6 weeks onward: Improvement in wrinkles/lines, scars.

Facial Peels

Before Your Appointment

  • I highly recommend medical grade skin care for at least 2 weeks prior to your appointment to decrease any skin inflammation that may be present (I can suggest a personalized skin care regimen for you).
  • Avoid use of prescription Accutane or similar product for at least 6 months prior to peel.
  • Avoid use of Retinol containing products for 1 week.
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure/tanning beds and use of self tanning products within the last 7 days.
  • Avoid laser hair removal, waxing, shaving or topical depilatories within the last 48 hours.
  • Please reschedule if any open wounds, cuts, abrasions, impetigo, active shingles (herpes zoster), or herpes simplex outbreak (cold sores).
  • We recommend a patch test for clients who have a history of reactions to topical products, and/or have known allergies to peel ingredients (48 hours to read the results). .

After Your Appointment

  • You may experience some flaking and peeling in the days after the peel, but down time is very minimal – especially if using medical grade skin care products at home.
  • Avoid direct sun and hot/cold extremes such as gardening, exercising, hot tubs, cooking over a hot stove, and sitting next to a fireplace.
  • Keep well hydrated.
  • Discontinue any alpha hydroxy acid-containing products for 72 hours after the peel, or for 6 weeks if doing a treatment cycle.
  • Depending on the type of peel or number of peel layers performed that day, you should be able to wear sunscreen and mineral makeup the same day or immediately afterward. Never go outside without SPF even on a cloudy day.
  • Do not scratch, pick or forcefully peel your skin, however, you may trim excess skin with scissors.
  • I will send you home with a special kit to use for 72 hours after your peel as your skin will need extra nourishment, repair and hydration. Antioxidants, vitamins A, C and E, and growth factors facilitate the healing process.
  • You may resume your regular skin care routine after 72 hours.
  • Your skin will look best about 1-2 weeks after the peel.

Hair Restoration

Before Your Appointment

  • Discontinue blood thinning agents such as vitamins A and E, Ginkgo, garlic, fish oil, krill, and multivitamins for 1 week prior to treatment.
  • Avoid taking Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Motrin or Advil and other anti-inflammatory medications as they will interfere with the release of growth factors from PRF.
  • You may use Tylenol if needed.
  • Avoid alcohol and nicotine-containing products for 3 days prior to procedure as they interfere with the healing process.
  • It is ok to color your hair for up to 7 days prior to the procedure.
  • You may continue other hair reduction treatments such as Minoxidil and hormone-blocking agents.
  • Increase your fluid intake starting 2 days prior to procedure.
  • Shower and wash your hair the morning of your treatment. Avoid applying any hair styling products.

After Your Appointment

  • Use a hot shower and wash your hair in the evening after the procedure to promote the effects of PRF but avoid doing so within the first 3 hours post-treatment.
  • It is normal to experience bruising, redness, mild swelling and itching for 2-5 days following treatment.
  • Continue to avoid anti-inflammatory medications such as Aspirin, Motrin, and Ibuprofen for 3 days after the procedure (if possible, 1 week is ideal).
  • Avoid vigorous exercise, exposure to heat and sun for 2 days after your treatment.
  • Avoid alcohol and nicotine-containing products for at least 3 days after as they interfere with healing.
  • Wait 3 days to resume Minoxidil (Rogaine) and hair coloring.
  • Continue to stay well hydrated.
  • Do not use blood thinning agents such as vitamins A and E, Ginkgo, garlic, fish oil, krill, and multivitamins for 1 week following your treatment.
  • Contact our office for any signs of infection such as drainage, increasing pain and warmth around treated areas, and fever of 101.5 or greater.

Hylenex Filler Reversal

Before Your Appointment

  • Avoid blood thinning medications such as Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Motrin, and Advil as well as supplements such as garlic, fish oil, vitamins A and E, ginseng, and Ginkgo for 1 week prior to treatment.
  • Do not drink alcohol for 24 hours prior to treatment.

After Your Appointment

  • You will likely have swelling, redness, and tenderness over the treated areas.
  • Bruising is expected and usually most obvious on days 2-7. Arnica as well as Alastin Post-Injection Serum (insert Alastin shopping link: https://www.alastin.com/collections/welcome?designate-location=12728) will speed up the healing.
  • You may apply ice over the next couple of days to keep the swelling down.
  • You will notice that your natural hyaluronic acid may be affected. Your body will replenish those stores within 3-4 days.
  • Do not apply make up over the injected area for at least 90 minutes to minimize the risk of infection
  • Only touch the injected area with clean hands and a clean towel.
  • Avoid alcohol, excessive heat, strenuous exercise and exposure to UV radiation for the rest of the day.
  • Wait until your injector advises you to replace the dissolved filler with a new one in the area if desired.

PDO Threads

Before Your Appointment

  • Arrive at your appointment with no makeup. Any make up will be removed prior to treatment.
  • Blood thinning medications increase the possibility of bruising. If you are taking blood thinning medications (e.g. Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Motrin), consult your primary care provider if they can be stopped for 3 days prior to treatment.
  • Avoid taking fish oil, vitamin E, krill, ginseng, green tea and ginger for at least 2 days prior to treatment.
  • Avoid alcohol for 48 hours prior to treatment.
  • Avoid retinol containing and exfoliating products for 1 week prior to treatment.

After Your Appointment

  • Avoid tanning booths & direct sunlight. Apply SPF of at least 40 when going outside.
  • You may gently wash your treated area starting on the day of your procedure, but avoid rubbing or massaging the face for at least 2 weeks.
  • You may take off small round bandages covering the thread insertion sites the next day.
  • Avoid exaggerated facial movements such as opening your mouth too wide for about 4 weeks.
  • Avoid drinking beverages with a straw, and try to eat soft foods for 1 week.
  • Avoid chewing gum for at least 2 weeks.
  • You may apply ice for discomfort and slight swelling.
  • Reschedule any dental appointments for at least 2 weeks after your treatment.
  • Stinging or pulling pain, “scratchy” sensations and discomfort are normal, and can be alleviated with over-the-counter Tylenol 500 mg (1-2 tablets every 6 hours as directed). They will begin to subside by week 2 and disappear by week 5.
  • NSAIDs such as Ibuprofen & Naproxen should be avoided.
  • Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications (e.g., Aspirin) unless prescribed for medical indications as well as blood thinning vitamins such as A, C and E for 7 days.
  • Avoid high and low temperature extremes for at least 10 days.
  • Take a break from strenuous exercise for at least 1 week.
  • Avoid radio frequency or heat-producing devices like cosmetic laser treatments for 12 weeks as those may dissolve threads.
  • If you were prescribed antibiotics, finish them all.
  • Please contact our office for any drainage, increased warmth, pain or redness at the thread insertion sites.
